Eger, Walter “Gary”, 69, Lilly, went to his resting place on December 4, 2018 at the James E. Van Zandt VA Medical Center, Altoona. Born May 3, 1949, Lilly, son of the late Joseph and Dolly (McMullen) Eger. Preceded in death by his brothers, Eugene “Hound” and Clair Eger. Survived by his daughter, Harley Eger, Lilly Level; friend, Brenda Adelsberg, Lilly Level; sisters, Helen Osborne, Lilly Level; Joann Smith, Cresson; Pat Salvicsky (Joe), St. Benedict; Judy Flynn (Jeff) Lake of the Woods, Va.; brothers, Roger Eger (Pam), Needmore; Alfred Eger, Gallitzin; special nephew, Ernie Smith, Cresson; and many nieces and nephews. Gary graduated from Penn Cambria High School and was a Vietnam Veteran serving two years with the US Army. He worked as a Shear Operator for Calandra’s (Cresson Steel) for 39 years where he enjoyed the work and fellowship of many. Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Monday, December 10 at Kennedy-Anderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 233 Keystone Ave., Cresson. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at the Sankertown VFW Post 7377, 133 Pennsylvania Ave., Cresson, Tuesday, December 11 at 11:30 a.m., Pastor John Bennett, officiant. Lunch will be served. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to the Veteran’s Hospices Center, c/o Volunteer Program Services, 2907 Pleasant Valley Blvd., Altoona, PA 16602.
